Get to know the mission, the people, and the century-old philosophy behind Fremont's AMS-certified Montessori school.
Nurturing Independent Thinkers of Vision, Courage and Integrity!
At Keen Learners Montessori, our mission is simple but profound: to provide a nurturing, child-centred environment where every child receives individualized attention and grows cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically. We are committed to helping children become exceptional learners, independent thinkers, and respectful individuals — equipped with the vision, courage, and integrity to thrive long after they leave our classrooms.
We started Keen Learners Montessori because we believe Fremont families deserve more than childcare — they deserve a true partner in their child's earliest, most formative years. Across our two campuses on Baine Avenue and Alder Avenue, we've built a school where Montessori tradition meets modern academic structure, where AMS-certified teachers know every child by name, and where families become part of an extended community that supports their child from toddlerhood through the start of kindergarten.
Every decision we make — from our weekly themed curriculum to our hot lunch program — is guided by one question: is this genuinely best for the child?
That question, more than any policy document, is what defines us.
A Century-Proven Method, Rooted in Respect for the Child
The Montessori method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and the first woman in Italy to earn a medical degree. Born in 1870, she spent her life developing a scientifically grounded, deeply respectful approach to early childhood education — one that has shaped how the world understands how young children actually learn.
At its heart, the Montessori philosophy holds that freedom is the foundation of real learning. A child who is free to choose their own work, move at their own pace, and explore their own curiosity develops the concentration, independence, and self-confidence that no worksheet can teach. But freedom, in the Montessori sense, is not the absence of structure — it is the presence of a thoughtfully prepared environment, guided by a trained teacher who knows precisely when to step in and when to step back.
Dr. Montessori also identified what she called "sensitive periods" — windows of development when a child is unusually receptive to acquiring a particular skill. A toddler absorbed in stacking and sorting is in a sensitive period for order; a four-year-old tracing letters with total focus is in a sensitive period for writing. Our teachers are trained to recognise these moments and prepare the classroom so that no child misses the chance to learn a skill exactly when they're developmentally ready for it.
This is the quiet science behind everything that looks, on the surface, like simple play. It's why a
Montessori classroom can feel calm and unstructured to a visitor, while in fact every material on every shelf has been placed there with deliberate purpose.

Meet Our
Founders
Madhu has been working with 2-8-year-old children for the last 14 years and completely understands the needs of children and how to fulfill them. Her vision is to establish a well-planned and structured preschool and after-school program that promotes academic, social, and emotional development under the Montessori philosophy. Her years of experience working at top Montessori programs in the Bay Area and as a mother of two herself, she understands the importance of premium education and works to provide that level of excellence at Keen Learners Montessori in a loving caring, and nurturing environment.
I am an author, entrepreneur, investor, community leader, and philanthropist. I co-founded KLM to develop creative minds, build a better foundation for children, and better relationships between parent and child. Every day, I wake up to this thought that we are preparing a magic formula that’s helping thousands of parents and children, helping them have the foundation and the right education so they grow up as better citizens. My mission is to develop creative minds, build better relationships between parents and their children, and build a stable children’s foundation so a great future is within reach.
Our Educators
Trained Observers, Not Just Instructors
Every Keen Learners Montessori teacher holds AMS or AMI certification, earned through a year-long combination theory-and-internship program followed by rigorous oral and written examinations in early childhood education. This isn't a generic childcare credential — it's specialised training in how children develop and how to nurture that development without getting in its way.

Careful Observation
Our teachers' primary task is watching closely — identifying each child's needs, interests, and readiness so the environment can be adapted to support them.
Indirect Guidance
We neither impose lessons on a child nor leave them to figure things out entirely alone. Our teachers actively look for the direction a child wants to go, and help them get there.
Individualized Pacing
Because every child develops differently, our teachers introduce new materials the moment a child is ready — never before, and never long after.
Two Fremont Locations, One Shared Standard of Care
Whether your family is closer to Baine Avenue or Alder Avenue, your child receives the same AMS-certified curriculum, the same attentive teachers, and the same warm, prepared environment.

What We Stand For
The Values Behind Every Classroom Decision
Child-Centred Approach
Every material, lesson, and routine is designed around the child's natural development — never the other way around.
Independence & Discipline
True freedom comes with responsibility. We help children develop the self-discipline to make good choices, not just the freedom to make any choice.
Environmental Respect
Children learn to care for their classroom, their materials, and each other — building habits of respect that extend well beyond our walls.
Cultural Awareness
Our weekly themes and classroom materials introduce children to the wider world, nurturing curiosity about cultures, geography, and people beyond their own experience.

Why The Early Years
Matter Most
An Investment in a Lifelong Love of Learning
"The child who 'falls in love with learning' at an early age carries that passion into every classroom they enter for the rest of their life." Parents sometimes ask how to balance investing in early Montessori education with saving for college later. Our answer is grounded in decades of developmental research: money spent nurturing a love of learning at age two or three pays dividends far beyond what's spent at eighteen.
A child who develops genuine curiosity and self-motivation in their earliest years carries that foundation into every stage of their education — including, eventually, into college and career, with or without a parent standing over their shoulder.
This is the long view we take with every family we welcome at Keen Learners Montessori. We're not just preparing your child for kindergarten — we're helping lay the foundation for a lifetime of confident, independent learning.
